Cosmetic Dental Bonding in Manchester City Centre

Case 1 - Cosmetic Bonding

Case 4 - Cosmetic Bonding

Case 6 - Cosmetic Bonding

What is bonding?

Bonding is the skillful use of modern “composite” materials to perfectly
blend with teeth to change their shape, making them longer or wider.

We can also change the colour of teeth, treat decay, fix broken teeth and improve the bite.

Sometimes bonding is used to test out the cosmetics and the bite.

Advantages of the technique are:

  • Doesn’t require tooth reduction.
  • Can be done in one visit.
  • Easy to repair and maintain.
  • Economical.

How long does it last?

This will depend on many factors such as how well maintained it is,
if you grind your teeth and dietary factors.

5 to 8 years is often quoted. However, bonding can last much longer for example, Jayme closed a gap between a receptionist front teeth 17 years ago and it is still looking great!

FAQ

Do I need an injection?

In most cases no.
If you are having your gums reshaped or have very sensitive teeth we can numb you up in a very gentle way.

Do I need my teeth cutting?

Composite bonding is a very conservative technique.

In most cases, no tooth reduction is needed.

There are times where very small amounts of tooth polishing will get better results. If this is indicated we will make sure you understand and get your consent.

How many visits?

A typical experience would be…….
1st visit: Records, assessment + trial smile.
2nd visit: Whitening (most patients do this 1st)
3rd visit: Bonding. Usually completed in 1 visit.
4th visit: Delivery of retainer as a night bite guard/top up whitening tray.

How long does composite bonding last?

This can vary. Much like asking how long does a car last. It would depend on how much and how it was driven and over what kind of roads.

For bonding typically 5 to 8 is quoted. However with good maintenance and re-polishing they can last longer.

What is the difference between composite and porcelain veneers?

Composite veneers are made by the dentist directly on your teeth by layering composite materials to mimic natural teeth.

+ Single visit
+ No tooth reduction required (usually).
+ Economical

Porcelain veneers are made by a dental technician.

The dentist sends the technician a scan or moulds of your teeth on which the technician creates a porcelain veneer (like a false fingernail) which is cemented onto your tooth.

+ Last Longer
+ Can look better
– Minimum of 2 visits
– May require some tooth reduction

How many teeth do I need?

Every case is different!

Our fee smile assessment will let you know what are the best
options for you.

We do the minimum number of teeth to get the resutl you are
looking for.

So it can range from fixing one broken tooth to 10 full veneers
to widen a smile.

Is there anything I need before composite bonding?

Maybe!

Your gums will need to be healthy. Swollen gums that bleed will lead to pink teeth and poor results!

Any decay or infections should be treated prior to the bonding.

Although we can align mildly crooked teeth in some cases, it may not be possible if your teeth are crooked.

If you want whiter teeth, we usually recommend tooth whitening prior to the bonding.

What Can Composite Bonding Treat ?

Broken Teeth

Teeth that have broken due to trauma can be rebuilt and made to
blend perfectly so that no one would ever know!
