What is bonding?
Bonding is the skilful use of modern “composite” materials to perfectly blend with teeth to change their shape, making them longer or wider.
We can also change the colour of teeth, treat decay, fix broken teeth and improve the bite.
Sometimes bonding is used to test out the cosmetics and the bite before it is replaced with veneers , crowns or onlays.
Advantages of the technique are;
- doesn’t require tooth reduction
- can be done in one visit
- easy to repair and maintain
How long does it last?
This will depend on many factors such as how well maintained it is, if you grind your teeth and dietary factors.
5 to 8 years is often quoted. However, bonding can last much longer for example, Jayme closed a gap between a receptionist front teeth 17 years ago and it is still looking great!
